DIXON, CA (MPG) - Dixon Moose Lodge hosted a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 as one of many efforts undertaken to revitalize the lodge.

According to Lanette Bingaman, a Moose Lodge member and advocate, the Moose Lodge is a generational tradition.

“Our Dixon Moose Lodge has been a tradition in town for four generations and we were at risk of losing it around a year ago. Our membership caught wind of this in November of 2024 and leaned in to save the lodge,” said Bingaman. “It is time for us to give back to the community, which includes scholarships for Dixon High graduates, Mooseheart and Moosehaven.”

Bingaman was part of a group of members that helped at the rummage sale, picking up donated items from throughout Dixon and Vacaville, restoring them and displaying them for public perusal at 6 a.m. May 4.

Volunteers drove a trailer throughout Dixon and Vacaville to pick up donations. They restored many of these donated items and displayed them behind the Dixon Moose Lodge, 180 W. B St., at 6 a.m. May 4

Bill Staton, another Moose Lodge member, said that their hard work aims to support the Dixon Moose Lodge, as well as the wider community.

Other contributing members include Kellye Johnson, Natalie Griffin, Don Salts and Debbie Robinson. According to Robinson, the Moose Lodge is planning another rummage sale in July or August.

With the community’s support, events such as the rummage sale and initiatives such as Mooseheart and Moosehaven are possible.

According to Bingaman, Mooseheart is a charity for orphaned children and Moosehaven supports the elderly.

Having faced some financial struggles five years ago, the Dixon Moose Lodge members said they are happy to be able to return to form while maintaining positive relationships with their partners.

The Dixon Moose Lodge will host its second annual rummage sale in July or August. The lodge offers cornhole every Monday for $10, plenty of food options, and a barbecue on June 21. These events allow the Moose Lodge to support the community.

The Moose Lodge at 180 W. B St., has many more offerings, On June 21, the organization will host a barbecue with brisket and smoked ribs. Every Monday, the Moose Lodge also hosts cornhole at 6 p.m. for $10 per player.

“I think what the Moose Lodge is going to do is going to be fabulous. Right now, we are getting in position to do the most good and continue our traditions,” said Bingaman.
