DIXON, CA (MPG) - Dixon Family Services’ (DFS) Food Pantry sincerely appreciates being a beneficiary of the Grocery Outlet’s Independence from Hunger event, as well as the support from many community members.

As part of the Independence from Hunger event, Grocery Outlet owners Joe and Christa provide us with grocery gift cards to supplement our grocery bags given to people in Dixon in need of food.

Our Food Pantry mostly contains nonperishable food items and household necessities such as diapers and cleaning supplies.

When we add a grocery gift card to the two supplemental grocery bags, parents can also access refrigerated items they need, like milk and eggs. Joe and Christa are also very generous in providing paper bags for Dixon Family Services Food Pantry distributions.

Dixon Family Services has had a strong relationship with Grocery Outlet since before the store opened. During early COVID-19, with many social distancing and safety guidelines, Dixon Family Services provided office space for people applying for jobs at Grocery Outlet, which was soon to be built and opened. Our positive relationship with Joe and Christa began then and we truly appreciate their ongoing partnership.

Currently, thanks to donations from Solano Land Trust and First Northern Bank, Dixon Family Services also offers various types of frozen meat. Both organizations purchased animals from the Dixon May Fair, had them processed and delivered the meat to the Dixon Family Services Food Pantry.

The nonprofit is also pleased to have recently started a partnership with Solano Gleaning. They harvest fruits and vegetables for people with an abundance of produce so it can be donated to local food pantries such as Dixon Family Services.

Those interested in having volunteers pick their fruit trees or gardens can visit forestr.org/gleaning or email [email protected].

Founded in February 1995, the Dixon Family Services Food Pantry’s success is thanks to many community contributors. If you would like to learn how you can help, please email [email protected], visit our website at https://dixonfs.org/ or check out our Facebook and Instagram pages.

If you or someone you know needs food, suggest they call us at 707-678-0442 to schedule a pickup.

Currently, Dixon Family Services does not offer walk-in services and an appointment is required.
