Program on 'Pruning your Roses' at the February ZOOM Meeting of the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club

DIXON, CA (MPG) - Kristina Fink from Lemuria Nursery in Dixon will be presenting a program on 'Pruning your Roses' at the February ZOOM Meeting of the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club. Kristina is a true gardener that loves getting her hands dirty by digging in the dirt! She enjoys working with plants and rejoices in observing new growth, whether it be a leaf or flower starting to appear.

Kristina’s roots are in the nursery business (pun intended). Her grandfather operated the Lemuria Nursery in Richmond on San Pablo Avenue for more than 30 years that had been started by his father, Kristina’s great-grandfather, in 1939. Kristina’s father, Peter Fink, and uncle, Erik Fink, moved the business to Dixon in 2000. Lemuria is a wholesale nursery, but also sells to the public.

Kristina’s face may look familiar as she frequently provides FaceBook tours of the nursery to let people know what plants they currently have in stock and to introduce new and different varieties of plants available. She is a frequent speaker at area garden clubs and county-wide horticultural events where she offers gardening tips to all levels of gardeners-from novice to Green Thumb award winners.

Kristina is the granddaughter of Jewel Fink, President of the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club and elected representative of the Dixon School Board.

The Zoom meeting starts at 1 pm on February 17. If you are interested in learning more about the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club or would like to participate in the Zoom presentation, contact membership Chair, Mary Kay Callaway at (916) 541-0417.

A few tickets are still available for the DWIC Scholarship and Community Grant Fundraising Dinner, a drive-thru, that will be held on Monday evening from 4:30-8 pm on Monday, February 15.

Tickets are $25 each and ticket holders have a choice from four entrées and will also receive a house salad, vegetable, potatoes, and bread. Call Loran Hoffmann at (707) 372-7094 for tickets and instructions on how to pick up your dinner or have it delivered to your home.
