DIXON, CA (MPG) – Dixon High School senior Cade Jacobson would not be denied at the plate Friday, picking up four hits and leading the Rams to a dominant 23-1 win over Mira Loma.
Jacobson led the way for Dixon (8-4, 3-0 Golden Empire League) in hits as he doubled in the first and third innings, then singled in the third and fourth in five total at bats.
The Rams played the Matadors (0-3, 0-3) three times this week, winning in impressive fashion Monday 22-0 at home, in a pitcher’s duel Wednesday on the road 1-0 and back home Friday 23-1. Over those three games, Dixon outscored Mira Loma 46-1 in total.
In the third inning, the Rams secured the victory by scoring 16 runs. The offensive firepower from Dixon was a team effort. Freshman Kai Mulitsch-Reynolds, juniors Jaden Mulitsch-Reynolds, Cooper Dwyer, Hayden Moore and Jett Harris, as well as senior David Abilez all sent runners across the plate with at least one RBI in the inning.
Danny Martinez was the winning pitcher for the Rams. The senior righty lasted three innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking one. Abilez and Moore entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Joel Lara took the loss for Mira Loma. The hurler went three innings, allowing 23 runs on 21 hits, striking out three and walking one. Lara also went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the Matadors in hits.
Jacobson, Moore, Nolan Fish, Malakai Martinez, Danny Martinez, Jaden Mulitsch-Reynolds and Kai Mulitsch-Reynolds each recorded multiple hits for the Rams.
Dixon plays next on Wednesday afternoon at home against Woodland (4-4, 2-1). First pitch is scheduled for 4 P.M.
