DIXON, CA (MPG) – Dixon won its 15th straight match on Tuesday night at home with a sweep of Bear River in the first round of the 2022 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Boys Volleyball Playoffs.

The No. 5 seed Rams (16-1, 10-0 Golden Empire League) have gone unbeaten nearly all season long, with their only loss coming in the second match of the year when they were swept at home by No. 3 seed Vanden (19-3, 10-0 Sierra Delta) of Fairfield on March 9. The No. 12 seed Bear River (11-11, 6-4 Sierra Delta) of Grass Valley was swept in both its matches against the Vikings as well.

Each set Tuesday was closely contested. Dixon narrowly prevailed in the first set, winning 25-21. Bear River kept it close in the second set as well but lost 25-20. The Rams were victorious in the third and final set by a similar margin, triumphing over the Bruins 25-21 to sweep the match and advance into the next round of the postseason.

The sweep by Dixon was its 11th in the Rams’ last 12 games, during what has been an extremely dominant stretch for Dixon. The Rams have been the victors in 48 sets so far this season and have only dropped 10 total in 17 matches.

Dixon has a quick turnaround with its next game on Thursday night against East Union (11-9, 5-5 Valley Oak) of Manteca in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. The Lancers will be a tough test for the Rams as they pulled off an upset and swept No. 4 seed Livingston (17-4, 7-0 Trans Valley) in the first round.
