DIXON, CA (MPG) - There are 11 churches in Dixon that welcome residents new and old to enjoy Christmas Eve services this year which falls on a Sunday. But, there is one event that unites them all every year and that’s the beautiful tunes in the tunnel known as Carols in the Tunnel. It is a time when Christian voices lift up in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and all others celebrate hope in the future.

The public is invited to join several local church groups including Living Hope Church and Grace Fellowship Church on December 15 at 7 p.m. It’s become a regular favorite over the holidays despite the cold and takes place in the B Street train underpass. Hot cocoa or coffee and cookies will be provided.

Cornerstone Baptist Church will also be doing a special Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 10:30 a.m. at 185 West Cherry Street.

“We’re inviting everyone to come celebrate the birth of Jesus,” reminded Church Office Manager Monica Sepulveda.

Dixon United Methodist Church will have Christmas Eve services at 8:30 a.m. and another at 10 a.m. Then, at night, they will have their traditional evening services at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. At those evening services, there will be a sermon on the Christmas story from Luke 2: 1-20. There will also be carols and candle lighting. They are located at 209 North Jefferson Street.

Freedom Church, located at 470 East H Street, will be providing a Christmas Gift Giveaway on Sunday, December 24 at their 10 a.m. Christmas Eve Service. You can get more information at www.freedomchurch.com  or call (707) 693-1774.

Grace Fellowship Church, in addition to coordinating the Carols in the Tunnel, will have their Christmas Eve Service at 10:15 a.m. and also a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7 p.m. The church is located at 535 West H Street and their phone is (707) 678-5700.

Living Hope Church will also have their Christmas Eve service on Sunday, December 24 at 10 a.m.

“We also have a special Christmas Concert planned for Saturday, December 16 at 7 in the evening,” said Pastor Jeff Myers. “Music will be provided by local bands, Leaving Theodora, and Strands. The event is free and will include holiday refreshments, crafts for the kids and pictures with Santa.” The church is located at 410 Gateway Drive.

St. Peter’s Catholic Church is at 105 South 2nd Street and will offer regular mass times.
