Wreath Project
Each December, holiday boughs are placed on all the gravesites at the local veterans’ cemetery in honor of our veterans resting there. This tradition began in 2006 when the cemetery opened and is one of the few in the country to have 100 percent coverage each year. The public is invited to help place the boughs. Volunteers are welcome at SVNC on Saturday, December 16, to assist with placements starting at 7:30 a.m. There will also be a Wreaths Across America program that same day starting at 9 a.m. and that is open to the public. Carpooling is encouraged and SVNC staff will be directing parking within the cemetery. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Adult and teen volunteers are needed Friday, December 15, to help unload trucks at the cemetery, starting at 3 p.m. For frequent updates, check the website at www.wreathproject.org or the Facebook page.

Unique Gift Idea
Give the gift that will last for years: A cake decorating Course from Every Baking Moment, 143 North First Street in downtown Dixon. The course offers four 2-hour sessions for $75 on Tuesdays: January 16, 23, 30, and February 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Students will learn to make icing and fillings: torte, fill, and ice a cake and will practice basic icing star and round tip decorating techniques. Participants do not bake in class as they do not have ovens, however, they will provide simple, step-by-step instructions for one to bake your best cake at home.
