Live Your Dream Award
Soroptimist International is again offering its annual Live Your Dream Awards to women of the community who are the primary financial supporters of their families. This unique education award gives women the resources they will need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. More than $2.9 million in education awards are distributed annually among over 2,000 women worldwide. Locally, Soroptimist International of Dixon is offering a $2000 grant that women can use for childcare, books, gas, and any other needs they may have.
Eligible women, outside of being their household’s main income source, must also not have a graduate degree, be accepted or enrolled in a vocational training or undergraduate degree program, and have the motivation to achieve their educational and career goals.

Every Baking Moment
Every Baking Moment, 143 N First St., will host baking classes throughout the month of November. Course One teaches baking hopefuls the basics of pastry decoration and buttercream skills you can use for all decorating projects. Course One is a four-day class, 6 to 8 p.m., starting Nov. 5, and recurring every Tuesday throughout November.
Each class will be a two-hour session, and the entire four-session experience will cost $75. No prior baking experience is required, and the instructors each have years of baking experience to support all students. To fully participate in this course, a Course One Student Kit, which includes equipment such as cake icers, fondant smoothers and bench scrapers, is required. But if the student kit is purchased the first night of class, a 20% discount is available but excludes the kit itself.

Solano County Farm Bureau Mixer
Solano County Farm Bureau will host a casual mixer at Bella Vista Farms, 7108 Rio Dixon Road, featuring John Vasquez, the Solano County Supervisor of District 4; he represents Dixon and Vacaville, as well as the northern part of Solano County, which contains some of the richest farmland in the state. The event, from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 13, will be a prime networking opportunity with beer, wine and pork sliders available. Entry is free, but space is limited.

Hands-on Holiday Cooking
Sustainable Solano will host a festive cooking class from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 7 that utilizes local, seasonal produce to craft sides and desserts that are perfect for the holiday season.
At Ulatis Community Center, 1000 Ulatis Drive, Vacaville, get together with the community to discuss menu planning, led by Chef Laura Doyle of Lavender Bergamot Kitchen, a collective of chefs that teach classes on cooking, herbal wellness, and fostering a do-it-yourself household. The class will end with attendees enjoying a dinner of their creation together. Tickets are $10 per person, and space is limited, so get your tickets today.

Hometown Market Day
Dixon Community Theater will host Hometown Market Day at Dixon Train Depot, 220 N Jefferson St. The outdoor market will have a wide variety of sellers, including Crafters, all in one convenient location.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nov. 9, the community flea market will have vintage finds, unique décor, good deals and all proceeds support the Dixon Community Theater. If you would like to be a seller, fill out a vendor form on Dixon Community Theater’s website and return it by Nov. 6; there is also a $50 fee to reserve two parking spaces at the venue, one for your car and the other for your display or booth. Karate & Kobudo Tournament
The 23rd annual Ryukyukan International Karate and Kobudo tournament, organized by Ramtown Karate, will be held in the Dixon High School Gymnasium, 555 College Way. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. This significant event in the martial arts community celebrates the traditions of Okinawan and Japanese Karate; in collaboration with Ryukyukan International Karatedo Kobudo Federation, a karate and kobudo martial arts school in Reading, PA, this tournament provides a stage for local athletes of all ages to showcase their skills and gives them a direct pathway from local to national competitions. The tournament begins at 9:30 a.m., and the knockdown weigh-in begins at 12:30 p.m.

Youth Rugby Camps
Solano-Yolo Rugby Club is looking for third through 12th graders in Solano and Yolo County who want to play rugby, regardless of gender. The Rugby Club will host two rugby camps at Hall Memorial Park, 285 E Chestnut St., at no cost, to allow newcomers to learn the basics and have a good time. Attendees are encouraged to bring cleats and water. The camps will be held, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Dec. 7, and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 21.

Volunteering Opportunity
The City of Dixon will host a volunteer landscaping opportunity from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Nov. 2 at N Lincoln St. and Regency Pkwy. Participants will be spreading bark in the landscaped areas. Come prepared to work, wear appropriate clothing to be outdoors and bring water.

The Little Town of Christmas
Dixon Community Theater hosted auditions for their newest play, “The Little Town of Christmas,” from Oct. 28 to Oct. 29 at the Senior Muli-Use Center, 201 S First St. “The Little Town of Christmas,” by Pat Cook, is a non-religious, comedic play, and the fourth full-length performance produced by Dixon Community Theater since reforming in 2024. In collaboration with the City of Dixon, the theater will also feature parts of the play at Dixon’s Christmas Tree Lighting, on Dec. 5. Showtimes will follow, from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8. Directed by Kelly Pigeon James, and featuring 12 short skits of holiday laughter and warmth, you are not going to want to miss this holiday event.

Friendsgiving at the Co-op
Davis Food Co-op, 620 G St., Davis, will host a communal dinner of house-made holiday dishes with live music and vegan options. From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 12, enjoy an early sampling of all the delicious seasonal main and side dishes they will offer during and throughout the holiday season before anyone else. Try holiday cheeses, wines, and desserts while enjoying live music from local musicians.
