Official Election Results Revealed

DIXON, CA (MPG) - With the Nov. 5 General Election having passed, many Dixonites are curious as to the results of such a pivotal event. As of Dec. 3, results have been officiated and are available online; 269,510 registered voters participated in the events of Nov. 5, seeing the following election results:

For the Fourth Congressional District, with a total of 62,798 votes cast, Mike Thompson wins with 31,404 votes, or 50.01%, over John Munn’s 31,394 votes, or 49.99%. For the 3rd Senatorial District, with a total of 183,763 votes cast, Christopher Cabaldon wins with 111,958 votes, or 60.93%, over Thom Bogue’s 71,805 votes, or 39.07%. For the Eleventh Assembly District, with a total of 182,311 votes cast, Lori D. Wilson wins with 110,161 votes, or 60.42%, over Dave Ennis’s 72,150 votes, or 39.58%. 

For the Dixon Unified School District Governing Board, with a total of 15,334 votes cast, Regina Espinoza wins with 4,801 votes or 31.31%; she is followed by Robert E. Sanchez Jr. with 3,564 votes (23.24%), Jimmy Thiessen with 3,006 votes (19.60%), Robin Erika Beck-Ruffen with 2,476 votes (16.15%) and Michael Cermello with 1,487 votes (9.70%).

For City Council District 3, City of Dixon, with 2,034 votes, Kevin M. Johnson runs unopposed; for City Council District 4, City of Dixon, with 2,277 votes, Don Hendershot also runs unopposed. For City Treasurer, City of Dixon, with 6,988 votes, Simon A. LeBleu runs unopposed.

For the Mayor of Dixon, with a total of 8,895 votes cast, Steven C. Bird wins with 5,211 votes, or 58.58%, over James P. Ward Jr’s 3,684 votes, or 41.42%.

State Proposition 2, which authorizes bonds for public schools and community college facilities, with a total of 183,093 votes cast; 110,786 (60.51%) voted Yes. State Proposition 3, which will amend the California Constitution to recognize the fundamental right to marry, regardless of sex or race, had a total of 182,527 votes cast; 111,727 (61.21%) voted Yes. State Proposition 4, which authorizes bonds for safe drinking water, wildfire prevention and protecting communities and natural lands from climate risks, had 183,299 votes cast; 111,320 (60.73%) voted Yes. State Proposition 5, which allows local bonds for affordable housing and public infrastructure, had 182,034 votes cast; 99,281 (54.54%) voted No. State Proposition 6, which eliminates the constitutional provision allowing involuntary servitude for incarcerated persons, had 180,220 votes cast; 96,179 (53.37%) voted No. 

State Proposition 32, which raises minimum wage, had 184,099 votes cast; 96,386 (52.36%) voted Yes. State Proposition 33, which expands local government authority to enact rent control on residential property, had 181,624 votes cast; 106,356 (58.56%) voted No. State Proposition 34, which restricts the spending of prescription drug revenues by certain health care providers, had 176,130 votes cast; 89,527 (50.83%) voted Yes. State Proposition 35, which provides permanent funding for Medi-Cal Health Care Services, had 180,842 votes cast; 132,606 (73.33%) voted Yes. State Proposition 36, which allows felony charges and increases sentences for certain drug and theft crimes, had 181,545 votes cast; 127,364 (70.16%) voted Yes.

Finally, Measure J, which will increase the sales tax in Dixon from 7.375% (the City receives 1%) to 8.375% (the City receives 2%), had 9,231 votes cast; 5,144 (55.73%) voted Yes.
