Solano County Office of Education Offering Mini Grants for Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Prevention Projects
Jan 14, 2025 05:50PM ● By Solano County Office of Education News ReleaseSOLANO COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) is excited to announce the launch of a new mini-grant program aimed at empowering teachers and youth programs to lead impactful prevention projects that address alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) misuse.
These mini-grants, available in amounts up to $500 per project, are designed to support creative, student-driven initiatives that build awareness and offer prevention strategies within Solano County communities. Solano County Office of Education is accepting grant applications through January, or until all available funds have been allocated. Educators and youth leaders are encouraged to apply soon.
ATOD projects may focus on peer education, community outreach, and advocacy, allowing students to take an active role in creating positive change. Eligible project ideas include, but are not limited to, prevention-themed public service announcements, youth-led presentations, awareness campaigns, art and media projects, and other innovative efforts to combat ATOD misuse and promote wellness among peers.
“Student-led prevention work not only empowers young people to make healthier choices, it also fosters a culture of leadership, and community responsibility,” said Solano Superintendent of Schools Lisette Estrella-Henderson. “Through these mini grants, we aim to support educators and youth leaders in engaging students in creating healthy change in their schools and communities.”

Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) provides leadership, support, and fiscal oversight for charter schools and Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield-Suisun, Travis, Vacaville, and Vallejo school districts which serve approximately 60,000 students.
