DIXON, CA (MPG) - Solano Research Conservation District, Putah Creek Council and Solano County Parks are working with community members to plant a Demonstration Garden at Lake Solano Park.

The garden will feature California native plants that are naturally drought tolerant, that provide habitat for Monarch butterflies and other wildlife and that are of cultural significance to the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.

If you are interested in joining us at one of the volunteer events listed below, reserve your spot by RSVPing Katherine Holmes at [email protected]. Once you RSVP, you will receive additional information, including a map to the planting site.

The three volunteer events will all be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, Saturday, Feb. 22 and Saturday, March 15.

All of these events are family friendly, but we do ask that children aged 16 and under work closely one-on-one with a parent or guardian.  We will provide all necessary tools and work gloves as well as snacks.

The Lake Solano Demonstration Garden is being funded by a grant from the California State Coastal Conservancy.
