The City of Dixon, in partnership with the Dixon Historical Society, 125 W A St., installed a series of tiles representing Dixon’s long-spanning history on Nov. 1. Each tile, 50 in total, is etched with photographs provided by the Historical Society. Shown is a render of the photos before being turned into tiles. Photo courtesy of the City of Dixon

DIXON, CA (MPG) - The Dixon Historical Society and Museum, 125 W. A St. would like to thank the Dixon Independent Voice for the recent article (“Dixon’s History Displayed in Pardi Plaza Tiles” page 10, March 14) regarding the 50 Pardi Plaza Historical Tiles.  A huge thank you goes to Madeline Graf, of the City of Dixon, for overseeing this project from start to finish, along with the Dixon City Mayor and Council Members, for their support.  The Dixon Library and the Dixon Women´s Improvement Club also allowed the Dixon Historical Society to select some pictures from their archives.

Both sets of archives were created by some of the original Dixon Historical Society members and founders from the 1980s, along with community members who shared their pictures over the years.  In addition, all three groups have had an interconnected history and have overlapped in membership over the past decades and continue to do so to this day.

The Dixon Historical Society Board members, over the past three years, carefully researched and studied multiple sources, and conducted interviews to bring the Dixon community detailed, written and historically accurate descriptions of all 50 Pardi Plaza pictures.

This information can be found by visiting the Dixon History Museum or the Dixon Historical Society website at dixonhistoricalsociety.org and clicking on the History tab. This information is also found on the City of Dixon website and by scanning the QR code provided on the 50th tile at the Pardi Plaza, 600 E. A St.

The Dixon Historical Society strives to preserve, protect, and promote the history of Dixon and the surrounding areas, and invites the community to visit the website and use the information provided as a trusted source of history, in collaboration with other resources.  Dixon Historical Society welcomes community input and feedback.
