DIXON, CA (MPG) - Mia DeLeon is Soroptimist International of Dixon’s Young Woman of the Month. She was nominated and presented by Nick Stidham, a multi-media/drawing instructor and Yearbook advisor.

DeLeon has taken classes with Stidham all four years, both in drawing and multi-media classes, as well as the yearbook class. DeLeon became an editor for the yearbook in her junior year.  As a student-run production, where the students develop a plan for the book, DeLeon led and guided one of the teams. Stidham knew early on that she would develop into the chief editor position. DeLeon applied and was selected as chief editor and has taken on that role and done an outstanding job in 2025.

“Mia is a dynamic leader with a quiet strength,” said Stidham

Stidham has enjoyed seeing her growth as a leader and noted that she has done an incredible job leading such a diverse range of students.

“Mia is one of the best leaders in 17 years with just the yearbook production” said Stidham.

DeLeon is the daughter of Adrian DeLeon and Alison Moore. DeLeon was born and raised in Dixon, living in Texas for just a short time.

DeLeon is drawn to art and has always enjoyed expressing herself creatively.  She has always loved to learn and has a passion for literature. One accomplishment she is proud of is running a backpack and school supply drive.  All donations went to the Opportunity House in Vacaville. Another accomplishment is maintaining a 4.0 GPA, challenging herself with rigorous coursework.

The yearbook has been an important part of her growth in high school. DeLeon has learned to solve problems and to develop confidence in herself so that others have confidence in her too.

If these were not enough, DeLeon has run her own baking business since she was 12 years old. DeLeon said it has taught her perseverance with the long nights of baking. DeLeon said that this has also helped her with her creative expression.

DeLeon’s goal is to attend a four-year university in Southern California. She wants to major in political science and then attend law school to become a lawyer.

Soroptimist International of Dixon members wish DeLeon the best in her future pursuits. What an amazing young woman and leader!
