DIXON, CA (MPG) – Solano Resource Conservation District, Putah Creek Council and Solano County Parks are working with community members to plant a demonstration garden at Lake Solano Park.
The garden will feature California native plants that are naturally drought tolerant, that provide habitat for Monarch butterflies and other wildlife, and that are of cultural significance to the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.
The next volunteer event is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12. If interested in joining this event, reserve your spot by RSVPing to Katherine Holmes at [email protected]. Once you RSVP, you will receive additional information, including a map to the planting site.
This planting event is family-friendly but children aged 16 and under should work closely one-on-one with a parent or guardian. The Solano Resource Conservation District will provide all necessary tools and work gloves as well as snacks.
The Lake Solano Demonstration Garden is being funded by a grant from the California State Coastal Conservancy.
