Dubbed as one of Dixon’s most cherished events the festival is free for all, with free carriage rides, pony ride, popcorn, hot coco, apple cider. Ornament making and children’s activities hosted by Calvary Chapel Church and pictures with Santa in the Olde Vets Hall along with many wonderful crafters. Local children’s choirs, dance groups and bands provide holiday musical entertainment throughout the evening as well as the Dixon Library providing story telling time.
The tree purchased at Boxwood Nursery in Woodland for $2500 will be carefully watched by the nursery for the first year to maintain healthy growth and proper fertilization. With the tree being a young one the Downtown Dixon Business Association (DDBA) is looking for volunteers and materials from the community to build a cone that will fit around the tree. Lighting and decorations will be wrapped throughout the cone to help aid in the splendor of the lighting ceremony.
The event is sponsored by the DDBA, with support from local businesses, Dixon Police Department, Dixon Fire Department and the City of Dixon. Many volunteers participate in the planning and set up of this event which makes memories for all in attendance for years to come.
If you would like to help or participate in the festival contact the DDBA at (707) 678-8400 or Jill Orr at (916) 416-2876 for more information.
