California Highway PatrolOn Wednesday, March 26, 2014 just before 5 pm, a 71 year-old man from Alamo, Calif was riding a bicycle eastbound on Putah Creek Road east of I-505. He was preparing for a timed interval race through a long stretch of straight roadway that bisects orchards in the area.

The bicycle rider sustained fatal injuries from the impact.

The vehicle continued into the orchard nearly striking a tree, and was then driven from the scene in a westerly direction toward Winters.

There were no apparent witnesses to the collision, but evidence collected at the scene indicates the suspect vehicle is a light colored vehicle but the make and model are unknown.
