Police Arrest Suspect in Hit & Run that Injured 3 Children in Vacaville

A suspect in a hit-and-run that injured three children in a North Vacaville neighborhood Sunday was arrested later that day in a small town about 40 miles north of where the incident took place.

At approximately 3:04 pm on Sunday, January 19 Vacaville police received a 911 call for a report of a hit-and-run collision involving three children. Witnesses told police a white Chevy pickup with Arizona license plates had pulled into Monticello Court, striking three children who were playing in the court.

Vacaville Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene, and two children were taken by ambulance to an area trauma hospital while one child was taken by air ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center. The children, ages 9, 7 and 6, are listed in stable condition.

Vacaville police conducted an extensive area check and were unable to locate the vehicle. Later that day at approximately 6 pm police received information that the suspected driver of the vehicle had checked into a motel in the City of Dunnigan, about 40 miles north of the scene of the accident. Officers with the Yolo County Sherriff’s Department contacted Wesley Murray, 31, at the motel, where he was arrested on multiple unrelated outstanding arrest warrants and booked into Yolo County Jail.

Murray, of San Jose, later admitted to being the driver in the hit-and-run collision on Monticello Court. The vehicle Murray was driving during the incident was later located in the City of Winters.
