Dixon Kiwanis Festival of Trees Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The 10th annual ‘Festival of Trees’ is coming fast but there are a few smaller trees left for sponsorship so call quick if you want to be a part of this popular, well-attended holiday celebration.
The local festive tradition is set for Saturday and Sunday, December 1-2, at the Veteran’s Memorial Hall, 1305 North First Street. The event offers free admission and free parking will open Saturday at 2 pm and run through 9 pm. It re-opens on Sunday at 10 am and the silent auction closes at 6 pm.
Beautiful and creative designs are embellished on tabletop, medium, and large trees sponsored by 30 different Dixon businesses and citizens. They all are part of a silent auction but all visitors are treated to an array of musical talent from Dixon Dance, Dixon Music Studio, school groups, individual performers, the CA Jacobs Middle School Band and the Dixon United Methodist Church Bell Choir.
The Festival of Trees is a major fundraiser that the Dixon Kiwanis Club works on all year. The event has proved to be extremely popular with hundreds of families passing through the showroom to bid on the trees and all proceeds of thousands of dollars went to benefit many local children’s programs, youth leadership programs, scholarships and support of the Kiwanis Family House.
The Dixon Kiwanis Club meets on the fourth Thursdays of each month and is part of an international organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. For more information, call Club President Melanie Wright at (707) 410-6634.
